About Ms. Eugenie
Eugenie’s musical education began prior to her birth when her mother sang hymns and lullabies to her unborn child. Her musical upbringing is a testament to the richness and value of an early childhood music experience.
Throughout her childhood, Eugenie studied a variety of musical instruments including piano, flute and cello, participated in the Toronto Children’s Chorus, and graduated from the Claude Watson School for the Arts. Following her graduation from York University with her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior focus) degrees, Eugenie discovered her passion for teaching early childhood music and pursued it wholeheartedly. She completed her Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Music Education through the Royal Conservatory of Music and Ryerson University. Eugenie is certified in Kodály Pedagogy and Orff Pedagogy, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics training.
Eugenie’s teaching experience to date includes delivery of Early Childhood Music programming at Toronto District School Board, Willowdale Christian School, Kingsway Conservatory of Music, various Montessori schools and daycares, and special education music instruction for autistic children.
She has been teaching private piano for over 10 years with over 50 students.
About Ms. Evelyn
Evelyn Tjiandri is a graduate of the Temple University Boyer College of Music where her earned her Masters degree in Piano Performance and Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and studying under the guidance of Dr. Sara Davis Buechner.
Evelyn is the recipient of the 2019 Jacobs Steinway Award, the Merit Award at 75th Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition 2011 in Hong Kong, the 4th Prize Winner of the Indonesia Steinway Youth Piano Competition 2012, 1st Commendation Award of Indonesia Piano Competition 2013, 2nd Prize Winner of Indonesia Piano Competition Free Selection D and Gold Award at the 5th Singapore Performers’ Festival 2014. She is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Honour Society, an organization dedicated to the furtherance of music in education.
Evelyn began taking piano lesson at the age of four under the guidance of Ms. Grace Tan at Symphony Musical Art Centre. Prior to her studies in the US, Evelyn also had the opportunities to study under Mrs. Ernawaty Sudarman (Symphony Musical Art Centre), Dr. Christine Utomo (Irama Music Studio) and Nora Lesly; including masterclasses with Ms. Tan Siok Peng, Dr. Kuei Pin Yeo, Dr. Jessica Bruser, Anna Kijanowska, Aaron Wunch, Prof. Patrick Zygmanowski, Mr. Levi Gunardi and Frank DeMeglio. Evelyn is currently pursuing her PhD in Music and Health Science at the University of Toronto.
