New School Year, New Practice Incentive: Music Bucks!
As we start a brand new school year, I’m excited to introduce a fresh twist to our practice incentive program. For the past three years, our system has helped many students stay motivated and consistent, but it’s time to try something new and even more fun.
* * Introducing… MUSIC BUCKS! * *
Music Bucks are our new studio currency. The more your child practices, the more Music Bucks they can earn!
Here’s how it works:
Students will receive a practice chart from their teacher. Once they complete it, they will receive a new one. They can complete a total of 5 per term.
Every day they practice, they’ll colour in four squares. The chart has space for 20 days of practice.
Our goal is five quality practices per week (weekends off!).
A completed chart = $10MB (Music Bucks), awarded at recital time.
Over the course of a term, students can earn up to $50MB per recital.
Music Bucks can be spent on small prizes and treats, or saved up for raffle tickets toward bigger prizes. Recitals will be even more exciting with this new addition!
* Partial Credit: Even if a chart isn’t fully completed, students can still redeem partial Music Bucks—so every bit of effort counts.
* Honesty & Accountability:
Parents, I’ll be relying on your partnership to keep this program meaningful. Please ensure that your child is completing their practice with focus on lesson assignments—not just casual playing. To help with accountability, parents will need to sign off on completed charts before they’re returned.
The goal of Music Bucks is simple: to encourage both more consistent and higher quality practice at home, while keeping the process fun and rewarding.
I can’t wait to see how excited the students will be about this new incentive!
